Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight can your hammocks hold?

Our hammocks hold over 500 pounds.

How should I care for my hammock?

Our hammocks are machine washable. Before you throw the hammock in the washing machine, tie a rag or sock around the metal rings so they don’t make a lot of noise hitting the sides of the machine. Hang the hammock to dry rather than putting it in the dryer, as the string can kink up in the machine. To extend the life of the hammock, bring it inside when extreme weather is predicted.

How do I install my hammock?

You can hang your hammock from anything that supports weight. To hang indoors, install the hardware we give you and follow the steps in the packet. Make sure you screw the O-rings into the ceiling studs to ensure that your weight is supported. You can rent or buy a stud finder for $20 or less at most hardware stores. This will locate the studs for you and tell you where to screw in the hardware. You can also hang your hammock from two tree limbs by either screwing the same hardware directly into the tree limb or wrapping chains around the limbs. We recommend screwing the complimentary hardware directly into the limb because this is actually healthier for the tree and makes it less susceptible to disease. Please make sure the tree limb is healthy & can support your weight!

How long do your hammocks last?

If cared for properly, our hammocks can bring you comfort and serenity for years and years to come. It is possible to make it last over 20 years if you bring it in during extreme weather.

Does the color fade?

If you leave a t-shirt outside in the sun for a long time, eventually the color will fade. Like many t-shirts, our hammocks are made of a cotton-polyester blend. So yes, if you leave it out in the sun, eventually the color might fade. You can either re-dye it yourself or let us re-dye it for you for a $50 fee.

Where can I hang it?

People get really creative with where they hang their hammock. We’ve seen people hang them indoors, outdoors, from loft beds, trees, even old jungle gyms! The only requirement is that the structure can support your weight. Home and garden stores also sell hammock stands that are easy to put together. Just make sure it has two points to hang the two ends from and that the measurements work with the length of the hammock (9 feet). The points can and should be closer together than 9 feet to achieve the most comfortable setup for this size hammock.

I’m afraid of flipping over! Do your hammocks flip?

This concern is understandable with any other hammock, particularly the ones with a flat bar across at the ends. Ours are designed to resist flipping, so you have to be really determined to make that happen! One side of our hammock is higher than the other, and we call this the “back” (it’s also where you put your back when you sit in it). Your weight is anchored against the back of the hammock, like you’re being held in a you-sized pocket. Stay away from the flat & flippy ones!

Can two people share one hammock?

Yes, absolutely! We designed it so that two people can sit or lay side-by-side very comfortably.

Do I sit or lay in it?

Both! Neither! Totally up to you. They stretch out to 7 feet so you can definitely lay all the way down. Our fave move is to sit in it and then put your feet up by hooking your heels into the front edge and pushing out. To lay down, adjust the back by undoing the beads and sliding them down the string. When you’re done, slide the beads back up the string to be able to sit in it again.

How do I get in it?

Sit down butt first. From a seated position, you can either put your feet up or lay all the way down. Do not get in feet first!

Can I sleep in it?

Absolutely! Our head weaver Stephanie grew up sleeping in a hammock almost every night, and actually preferred it to her bed! The even distribution of weight makes the hammock extremely comfortable to sleep in. 10/10 would recommend.

I have back problems, are hammocks good for me?

YES! Actually, some chiropractors even recommend hammocks because of the even distribution of weight. Most chairs and beds support only the parts of your body that touch the bed/chair. But our hammock is great for your back because it provides equal support throughout your body.
